About

In 2012 Carolyn and her family moved to a 5-acre homestead in Vermont and so began a new love affair with growing flowers, shrubs, and trees, foraging for roadside flowers and learning to identifying native and invasive plants. All of which inform her art practice.

Carolyn’s painting celebrates the ephemeral nature and seasonality within the confines of the hyperlocal environment of the Upper Valley where she lives. She is interested in the sensory abundance of the natural world and the color and shapes within these visual encounters. The flowers used in her still life work are taken from her garden or foraged from her property. Her small gouache paintings are records of favorite places around the Upper Valley and sold as prints and used as studies for in larger studio works.

Carolyn Begley works from her studio in Vermont. She holds a BFA with distinction from RMIT Melbourne, Australia and an M.Ed (waldorf education) from Antioch University, Keene, NH.
